Here are a few steps that can help with your allergies.  One of the most important is carpet cleaning because so much dust is trapped by your carpet.

  • Your carpets act as a huge air filter.  When dust lands on the carpet if it does not fall in it will when walked on.  Steam Cleaning will usually pull the most dust from your carpets.
  • Wash the blankets and bedspread.    Dust and animal hair collects on bedspreads and any horizontal surface.
  • Get a Hepa Vacuum and use it on everything, mattress, carpet and any furniture covered with fiber.  You will be amazed at how much dust collect on and in the surface of your furniture.  I like the vacuums with the dirt cup because  I can see how much is being filtered out.  Even if they have a dirt cup they will have to have more filters.  Check and clean these also.
  • Check the air vents in your AC and your heating system.  Dust and or animal hair need to be cleaned out from these.  Just because they are out of sight does not mean the polutants there will not end up recirculated.
  • Clean your Heating system filters.  If these are clogged your system will not be as efficient at moving heat and you will be getting more dust from the system.
  • A good air filter.  You might be suprised how much dirt a good air filter can pull out of the air.
